Robin has extensively studied the guitar style of Django Reinhardt and the gypsy jazz tradition which includes guitarists such as Angelo Debarre and Lolo Meier. Although Django Reinhardt remains a defining influence on Robin's playing, other musical influences include bebop, contemporary jazz, baroque music, funk and blues. Robin has also studied with internationally acclaimed guitarist Dave Cliff at the Trinity College of Music in London.

As a guitarist new to the scene Robin is already quickly establishing himself, both in England and internationally, having performed at venues in Paris and New York with a performance at the Django a-go-go gypsy guitar festival in Brooklyn.

The Robin Katz Group is based on the famous 'Hot club de France' - a core trio of double bass, rhythm guitar and lead guitar. The ensemble also works well with a variety of instrumentalists including violin, clarinet, accordion, saxophone and flute.

The ensemble brings a youthful modernity to the genre producing swinging, funky, feel-good jazz with dazzling displays of virtuoso musicianship.

The ensemble has performed in venues such as Le Quecumbar and the 606 club whilst also playing private functions and parties.
