Dave's early influences range from the Beatles, John Williams, and Noel Gallagher to Gentle Giant, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Jimi Hendrix.

He started studying music seriously when he was 17, and after completing a BTEC in music technology and hearing the Miles Davis album 'In a Silent Way', went on to study jazz at Middlesex University with Stuart Hall, Nikki Illes and Pete Churchill. He later moved to the Trinity College of Music where he is currently continuing his studies.

Dave has also been to the Hampstead based institution WAC (Weekends Arts College) where he studied with Tim Whitehead and Nikki Yeoh as well starting a strong musical relationship with Sam Beste, Pete Frasier and Nathan Allen. He is also studying with Barak Schmool in the London based organization F-IRE playing caixa in their samba batterie.

Other current projects include recording, performing and writing with Ian Shaw (Best Vocalist, BBC Jazz Awards ‘04), a duo project with 7-string guitarist Jo Caleb and his own Trio featuring Josh Morrisson on drums and Neil Charles on Bass.
